Education, especially in the humanities  must encourage students and teachers to value the emerging digital language arts, the remixing ethos, and the need to still create in an unplugged environment.

In whatever position I hold—as an educator, educator of educators, or collaborator with educators—I embrace this vision. There are many ways that teachers and students can be innovative in the classroom, yet mixed messages about testing, data, and standards removes the innate creativity of building and experiencing curriculum.

No matter what the subject, I believe that education benefits from student-centered, teacher-crafted content. I have worked diligently in my short career to implement lessons that are built on proven pedagogical ideas, but always tailoring them to my students, my personality, and the growing digital culture.
